IN-GRID

In-Grid was named after the famous film star, Ingrid Bergman. Her parents ran a cinema (and still do) and In-Grid grew up watching movies which she says were a major influence on her decision to become a singer. Films sparked her imagination and fuelled her ambition to communicate strong emotions to as many people as possible. She started acting, painting and singing, soon to discover that for her music was the most powerful form of expression.

She began singing locally in her native Northern Italy and soon got a reputation for her great stage presence and the energy and colour of her voice.

The internationally renowned record producers Larry Pignagnoli and Marco Soncini invited her to sing on a couple of ideas they were working on in the studio. She laid down the vocals of Tu Es Foutu in one go and the song came to life. As a famous DJ put it, this must be the sexiest voice to come out of the Italian dance scene in the last ten years. Tu Es Foutu reached No. 1 in Greece and Sweden, No. 2 in Netherlands, No. 4 in Belgium, Top Ten in Italy, Spain, Germany and Australia and last but not least No. 1 Airplay in Russia.

The second single In-Tango entered the sales charts in Germany and Denmark and was widely played all over Europe. In-Grid's debut album Rendez-Vous went straight into the official album sales charts in Germany and Top 50 in the European sales charts and went to No. 1 in the official album sales charts in South Africa. The third single Shock was accompanied by a stunningly glamorous video.

You Promised Me (english version of Tu Es Foutu) stormed up the Billboard dance charts in USA, first the preference and airplay charts and then the official single sales chart for club-oriented music.
The English version of the first album was released in the USA. She was awarded over ten gold or platinum discs at Midem, the international music business event held in Cannes.

After a year of intense touring, the recording of an album of covers of French Classics for the Eastern European market as well as a couple of duets with leading Russian performers, In-Grid left the stage and the TV studios to record new songs.

In 2005, In-Grid released her second album Voila!, heralded by an irresistible single called Mama Mia. The new material has been recorded in French and English, and the single has a Spanish chorus, too!
