MAARTEN
DE JONG (Netherlands)

Born
in Holland in 1982 Maarten developed his passion for dance music
at the tender age of 10. Listening to (and highly motivated by)
the ‘Turn up the Bass’ compilations, it gave him the inspiration
to start producing music on his Amiga 500.
Aged just 15 Maarten took to the decks, spinning music on his then
belt drive turntables. Becoming one of the youngest resident DJs
in Holland he played in local clubs and began networking with other
DJs and producers. From there he embarked on his production career
at the age of 17, releasing his first track in the same year.
‘Massive’ brought with it a quick-fire raft of support from DJs
including Tiësto, Armin and Paul van Dyk. ‘Mono’, which was released
in 2008 on Sander van Doorn’s Doorn Records scored a No.1 slamdunk
on Beatport’s chart. And his track ‘ID’ became a fully-fledged
roof raiser - which gained support from Dave Dresden, Ferry Corsten
and Marco V amongst others. Maarten’s studio sound is difficult
to fit into one neat electronic music style. I guess tech trance
but very much his own unique creation within that very open genre
and one that in a short space of time has delivered a big statement
to the international music scene.
Maarten’s studio skill got him an exclusive singles deal with Spinnin
Records and also resulted in several highly-lauded remixes for
artists like Ronski Speed, Talla 2XLC, The Act, Cor Fijneman, David
Forbes , Rapid Eye, Akira Kayosa, Virtual Vault, Yahel, Ron van
den Beuken, Walsh & McAuley and The Shrink for labels like
Spinnin, Black Hole, Goodgreef Digital, Full Tiltin, Slinky Digital,
Freefall etc.
His rewiring of Perpetuous Dreamer’s ‘The Sound of Goodbye’ was
seized upon by its original producer, Armin van Buuren and given
full support during his ‘Imagine 2008 world tour’.
In 2009 Maarten again hit the studio hard and smashed the world
appearing in every big DJ tracklist all year with Life is too Short
and his remix of Tigran Oganezov – Neanderthal tearing up dance
floors worldwide. Continued top releases on his home at Spinnin
records has cemented Maartens place as a new rising force in the
big league of tech trance artists. He also remixed the trance classic
The Act – Something about U which got huge plays by Tiesto who
has taken quite a shine to Maarten and been pushing every track
from his fellow countryman.Maarten also reworked the huge commercial
hit Coldplay - The Scietist that got huge plays from USA to Australia
by Ferry Corsten and also a play on his 2010 BBC Radio One Essential
Mix.
With his ‘Solid Sessions’ radio show Maarten combines his sound
into a highly energetic and eclectic mix, which finds its own diverse
style every month. It also gives him the opportunity to experiment
with his own forthcoming tracks, while reaching a broad span of
electronic music fans right around the world. Maarten de Jong ‘FULLY
LOADED’ is coming in the 2nd half of 2010 so keep an eye and ear
out it, a new brand that will cover all things MDJ including radio,
productions and a live club concept!
Maarten is now also an accomplished deck-wrecking DJ. With debuts
coming in thick and fast all over the world, 2010 has catapulted
Maarten de Jong into the realm of a true International artist.
As he always says: “Every day is a different day!” Electro, techno,
minimal and trance’’ He plays them all, weaving them into his own
mind blowing mix. Whichever way they go, each set always has ‘Maarten
de Jong’ stamped all over it and with the backing of Tiesto, Ferry
Corsten, Sander van Doorn, Eddie Halliwell and many more of the
words elite, Maarten de Jong is set to be the next superstar DJ/producer
to come off the never ending conveyer belt of Dutch world beaters!
