MICHAEL BURIAN (Czech Republic)

DJ, producer and the owner of the Bohemian Recordings label Michael Burian has belonged to the most important figures of Czech dance scene for a few years. He started his career as a DJ and producer at the age of 15, when he first performed at a school party. He made his first steps in the music field both as a DJ and as a dance events organizer. He performed successfuly under the stage name „Electromajk“ till 2001. By then he had become an essential part of modern Czech dance scene. He performed at the biggest events in this country and did not miss many important performance in England, Germany, Poland, Hungary and also in Slovakia. He also released many successful mixed compilations, which came out on the Nextera (Evolution Beat) label under this name and he also mixed one of the most successful CDs for the no longer existing Tripmag (Trancing) magazine He was awarded for the work he had done at the Czech Dance Music Awards, where he was announced DJ of the year 2001.
In 2001 he began to perform under his birth name Michael Burian. At the time he fully devotes to his own production and immediately sees his first success with the „Orgasmiczech“ piece. This single was followed by a very successful EP „Blow Me/Hotmale“, which became a club hit in this country and also met with worldwide success. This EP was announced the single of 2002 at the Czech Dance Music Awards. The same year Michael entered the international dance scene also as a DJ after he was invited to the biggest electronic festival „Creamfields“ in England. His sets that are filled with energy and passion guarantee him place at this festival for years ahead. Within this festival he also performed at the world famous Amnesia club (Ibiza) at the „Cream“ event.

He releases his first album „ Tender Young Flash“, which was distributed worldwide, with the Intergroove label in 2003. One year later a new chapter of his carrer opens. He started his resident night under the name „Visage“, where he took part in the whole concept of the night, including the choice of foreign guests, the visual style of decorations and also the promotion. Not long after this the project became so successful that he started presenting this concept at other clubs too, for example at Fabric (Ostrava) and Capitol (New Delhi, India).

In 2005 Michael arouses even bigger interest in his performance at the biggest events all over Europe. The same year in June he went on record as a successful producer when he accepted the offer of Circle Music Publishing (Germany) to release his other records. This EP includes three pieces „Praha“, „River“ and „Metro“ and the biggest German music magazine Raveline scored him with the most points. It was „Prague“ that became the most successful piece and for which he later shot a video that could be seen on Očko, Viva, Prima, MTV and RTL TVs.
The international fashion design company Diesel was also inspired by his music when they commissioned Michael to produce music for their fashion shows in the Czech and Slovak Republic. In 2005 Michael again wins a few awards for his work at the the Czech Dance Music Awards, where he got the Best Czech DJ Award for the second time. The radio programme „Dance Extravaganza (Evropa 2)“, where Michael was the resident DJ, was announced the best within the same poll. Michael himself won one more award when his resident night „Visage (Roxy)“ was announced the best Club Event.

In 2006 he organizes a magnificent mega event in the T-Mobile arena called „Michael Burian and Friends“, where also Paul Van Dyk performed. The same year he also starts his other resident night called „Bohemian Night“ at the Duplex club in Prague and he also returns to the Roxy club as the resident of the „Zen“ event.

At the beginning of 2007 Michael releases his new single „Wacker Drive“ at his own music publishing house called „Bohemian Recordings“. This single reaches leading positions on all sales servers. Then comes the other successful single called „ From Berlin to Prague (Bohemian Recordings)“. All his released singles were supported by Paul Van Dyk, who
played them regularly. Some time later Michael started his own radio show called „Bohemian Session“, which is still on on some radios such as Vonyc, Slinky.Fm and many others.

In 2008 he becomes the first Czech DJ to be invited to the prestigeous music festival „Winter Music Conference“ in Miami. His participation at the conference and the subsequent tour of the U.S.A. were so important that he was addressed by the representatives of the Czech Centre in the U.S.A., who offered him further cooperation. At the same time, besides the traditional nominations in the domestic polls, Michael won two nominations in the „See Me“ poll. He reached one of the top positions in the Best House DJ category and so did his single Freakin in the Best Music category.

In 2009 he becomes the resident DJ of the Pure (United Music) events, which are held at the SaSaZu club in Prague. He releases a new single called „Circles“, which got on the playlist of big DJs, on Bohemian Recordings. At the end of the year he prepares an actual sound for his label, on which another EP called „New York City Sound“ was released and which comprises tracks „Fifth Avenue“, Times Square and Tribeca“. He cooperated with the producer Nipp on this EP. Michael is also invited by the AUDI car manufacturer, which he has been cooperating with for a few years, to a party held within the film festival in Karlovy Vary. He also accepts an offer to cooperate on the publication of the first AUDI calendar, where besides Michael many other Czech celebs appeared.

At the beginning of 2010 Michael cooperates with the DSG brand (New York, USA), which calls him the new Paul Oakenfold from East Europe. The DSG brand represents Michael´s label „Bohemian Recordings“ and also looks after his booking and management in the U.S.A.
In cooperation with DSG Michael has prepared a new project called „CIA (Czech in America)“, which will be officially presented at „Winter Music Conference 2010“ in Miami. Michael´s radio show Bohemian Session which is regularly broadcast on Slinky.Fm, Fun 1 and Europe 2 has become world famous.

Currently Michael Burian belongs to the most demanded Central European artists. You could hear him perform at big events held both in this country and abroad, namely Mácháč, Creamfields, Love Parade, Energy, Street Parade, Space Parade, Summer of Love, Time Warp and many others. He didn´t miss the tour of East Europe together with Tiesto, either.
